In 1925, when "L'Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes" opened in Paris, Art Deco was born.
Art Deco - lasting from 1925 until the second world war in 1939 - saw grand revolutions in building (ie furnishings, architecture, interiors), in fine arts, advertising, and posters, in crafts, and in industrial design. The eras artistic style might be categorized as fast, bold, oversized and unique.
Like all its fine art, Deco Jewelry prominently features bold combination's exploring combination of shape and color. Characteristic pieces include - for instance - our Pearl Moon Earrings, these adornments combine loud enameled half circles with soft and graceful pearls. Some antiques and observations of period jewelry can be found here.
The present resurgence of Deco designs is only one of many such happenings - both the 60's and the 80's saw similar revivals. Deco might be said to come in popularity and never go - as an era it's stylistic tendencies are continually and forever reborn.
